Free for fire departments

Directory listings, listing updates, photos and the online volunteer application are free for fire departments.

Photos and information you send us

When you send a photo or information for a listing, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that FireDepartment.net may publish it on firedepartment.net, its subdomains and other sites owned by FireDepartment.net. We may decline or edit submissions, and we check changes against an official source before publishing them.

Departments make their own decisions

FireDepartment.net delivers applications. Each fire department decides whom to interview and accept, and runs its own background checks, medical requirements and training.

No guaranteed numbers

We do not guarantee a number of applicants or volunteers.

Fire danger levels

The fire danger levels on this site are copied from the state agencies that set them (the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Washington Department of Natural Resources) and from local agencies, about once a day, with the date each was set and a link to its source. They can be out of date or wrong. The agency's own page is the official level, and burn bans and other restrictions from your city, county or fire department may also apply. Check them before you burn, build a campfire or do anything that could start a fire.

Fire safety information

The fire safety and wildfire pages are general information for the public. They are not professional, engineering, legal or insurance advice, and they cannot account for any particular home, property or situation. They sum up guidance published by government and safety agencies, which are named on each page with the date we last checked them. Those agencies, your local fire code and your fire department take priority over anything on this site. Following fire safety guidance lowers risk but cannot guarantee that any home or person will be safe from fire.

FireDepartment.net does not inspect homes or property, does not give advice about a particular home, and is not responsible for decisions made using this information. Check the original source and ask your fire department before you act.

Nearest fire station search

The nearest fire station search shows stations by distance from a location, using addresses and map services that can be incomplete or out of date. The nearest station is not necessarily the one that will respond, and distance is not a response time. Do not use it in an emergency: call 911.
