Update your fire department's listing
If you work at a fire department, you can update its listing for free. Use the update links on your department's or station's page, or the forms below.
Every update is sent to us, and we make the change to the listing ourselves, so please allow a couple of days for your update to appear on the site.
See a sample listing Example Volunteer Fire Department shows what a complete listing looks like: photo, logo, fire chief, equipment, statistics and a volunteer program.
How it works
- Find your listing. Use the update links on your department's or station's page, or the forms below.
- Tell us who you are. Each form asks for your name, email and phone, and how you are related to the fire department.
- We verify. We check every update before it goes live. If we can't otherwise confirm that you work at the fire department, we may call the department.
- We update the listing. We make the change ourselves. It usually appears on the site within a couple of days.
Anyone can send a correction, and we check it before anything changes. Volunteer recruiter information can only come from people who work or volunteer at the fire department.
What you can update, free
- Contact information and photos. Physical and mailing address, non-emergency phone and website, and a photo of the fire station or of your firefighters in front of their equipment.
- Logo. Your department's patch or logo.
- Fire chief. The chief's name, title, years of service and photo.
- Statistics and community resources. Calls, staffing, response time, ISO rating and the area you serve, and links to fire and EMS resources for your community, such as burn permits or CPR classes.
- Fire equipment. Add each engine, tender, ambulance or other apparatus, or update one that is listed: year, make, model, tank and pump size, and a photo.
- Missing fire stations or departments. Any that are not on FireDepartment.net yet.
- Volunteer recruiter. Who volunteers can contact, and your answers to the questions volunteers ask. See how to answer the volunteer recruiter questions.
- Free online volunteer application. A form you can link to from your website, with each application emailed to your recruiter. See how it works.
How we handle updates
- Tell us your name, email and phone, and how you are related to the fire department, so we can confirm the update. They are never shown on the site.
- We check changes against an official source, such as your department's website or a state record, before publishing them.
- Send only photos you have the right to share. By sending a photo you allow FireDepartment.net to show it on firedepartment.net. See our terms.
Forms
Each update has its own form. Open it from the fire department's or station's page: find the department in the directory, then use the update link next to what you want to change (contact information and photos, fire chief, logo, statistics and community resources, or fire equipment). The form shows which listing you are updating and opens with what the listing shows now.
