Share your action photos
Show people what your fire department really does. Send us your best photos of training, calls, crews and community events, and we'll use them, with credit, to help recruit volunteers and show why fire departments matter.
How we use them
- On the pages that help people volunteer, find a fire department and understand what it does.
- On FireDepartment.net's social media, to promote volunteering and fire departments.
- With the credit you choose: the photographer, your department, both or none.
- We review every photo first, may crop or resize it, and may not use every one.
- Only with your fire department's agreement: see the photo agreement.
What makes a great photo
- People in action: hose lines, ladders, extrication, EMS training, a crew working together.
- Your community: open houses, school visits, pancake breakfasts, parades.
- Apparatus and stations with your crew, not just the truck.
- The largest original file, sharp and well lit. Phone photos are fine.
Before you send
- Only fire department members can be recognizable. No community members, bystanders, patients or victims whose faces can be seen, and no medical information, license plates or house numbers.
- Your fire department has to agree. Send photos only if you are allowed to agree to the photo agreement below for your department.
- We may not use every photo. We choose the photos that fit, and we may crop or resize them.
Send your photos
The form asks for your name, email and phone so we can confirm the photos and ask questions. They are never shown on the site. The form is provided by Jotform; see our privacy page.
Photo agreement
By sending photos, you and your fire department agree to the following.
- Use of the photos. The fire department gives FireDepartment.net free, non-exclusive permission to use, copy, crop, resize and publish the photos on FireDepartment.net, its social media, newsletters and other marketing for FireDepartment.net and its programs, which help people volunteer and support fire departments.
- Ownership. The fire department or photographer keeps ownership of the photos and can keep using them however it likes.
- Credit. We will credit the photos as you choose on the form wherever we reasonably can.
- Who is in the photos. Only fire department members can be recognizable. The photos do not show community members, bystanders, patients or victims in a way that identifies them, or medical information, license plates or house numbers.
- Permission from the people in them. Fire department members who can be recognized agreed to be photographed and to these uses, and a parent agreed for any member under 18.
- Right to share. You took the photos, or the fire department or the photographer who owns them gave permission to send them, and you are allowed to agree to this for your fire department.
- No obligation. We may not use every photo, and we decide where and how to use them.
- No political use. We will not use the photos to support or oppose any candidate or ballot measure, and using a photo does not mean the fire department endorses anything.
- Taking a photo down. The fire department can ask us to stop using a photo at any time, by email. We will remove it from FireDepartment.net and delete our own posts that use it, within 30 days.
- No payment. Neither side pays the other for the photos or their use.
Photo agreement, November 1, 2026. Check your department's own photo and social media policy before sending.
