Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau
Also known as: WSRB
An independent, not-for-profit organization that rates fire protection in Washington communities. Its criteria are approved by the state Office of the Insurance Commissioner.
For fire departments
- Evaluates each community's fire department, water supply, emergency communications and fire safety control to set a Protection Class from 1 to 10
- Guides on the evaluation process and how to prepare for one
- Sponsors fire service scholarships for the Washington Fire Chiefs conference, the Fire Prevention Institute and the WSFFA
For the community
- Protection Class and building code ratings are used by insurers as one input for fire insurance rates
